All students enrolled in over 500 Sanskrit schools across Uttar Pradesh are eligible for the scholarships, regardless of their family income.
The scholarship amounts have been increased and now range from Rs 50 to Rs 200 per month. Students in classes 9 and 10 will receive Rs 100 per month, while those in classes 11 and 12 will get Rs 200 per month.
The scholarships are now available for students in classes 6 to 12, including those in Prathama (classes 6, 7, and 8). Students in these classes will receive Rs 50, Rs 75, and Rs 100 per month respectively.
The Uttar Pradesh government has removed the income limit for Sanskrit school scholarships, previously restricted to families with an annual income of up to Rs 50,000.
The revised scholarship scheme will benefit approximately 1,21,573 students currently enrolled in the state's 517 Sanskrit schools.
The implementation of the revised scholarship scheme is expected to cost the exchequer over Rs 19.65 crore for the current financial year.
For the current financial year, students can submit their scholarship applications offline. An online system is set to be implemented in the next financial year.
