The Revival World scam involves a couple, Rajeev Kumar Dubey and his wife Rashmi Dubey, who promised elderly people in Kanpur that they could reverse their aging using an 'Israel-made time machine' through oxygen therapy.
The couple operated a therapy center called Revival World in Kanpur's Kidwai Nagar area. They claimed that their 'time machine' could transform a 60-year-old into a 25-year-old using oxygen therapy, which they said would counteract the effects of high pollution levels in the city.
The scammers offered various packages, including one for Rs 6,000 for 10 sessions and another for Rs 90,000 for a three-year reward system. They also offered discounts for referrals, turning it into a pyramid scheme.
It is estimated that over two dozen couples were duped out of Rs 35 crore. One of the victims, Renu Singh Chandel, claimed she was cheated of Rs 10.75 lakh and alleged that many more people were similarly deceived.
The victims were misled into believing that the oxygen therapy sessions would make them look younger in a short time. Many of them introduced friends and family members to the therapy center, further perpetuating the scam.
Police have filed an FIR against the couple and are actively searching for them. Airports have been alerted to prevent them from fleeing the country. Anjali Vishwakarma, a senior police official, confirmed that an investigation is ongoing.
This scam highlights the importance of verifying claims before investing in any therapy or treatment. It also underscores the need for stricter regulations on health-related businesses to prevent such fraudulent activities.
