BTS member J-Hope is set to be discharged from the South Korean military on October 17, 2024. He enlisted in April 2023 and has been serving for about 18 months.
The first BTS member to get discharged was Jin, who completed his mandatory military service in June 2024. He enlisted in December 2022.
J-Hope shared an emotional update on his military life via Weverse, reflecting on his time in service and expressing excitement about reuniting with ARMY. He noted that many of his initial worries now seem unnecessary and that he has grown fond of his experiences.
J-Hope began a countdown to his return, highlighting that he has exactly 30 days left before reuniting with ARMY. He wrote, 'One month. Exactly 30 days It was quite a journey. Now, I feel a sense of affection. It's becoming very sentimental.'
Other BTS members, including RM, Suga, Jimin, Jungkook, and V, are still serving in the South Korean military. They are expected to complete their mandatory service and return next year.
The next members set to be discharged are RM and V on June 10, 2025, Jimin and Jungkook on June 11, 2025, and Suga on June 21, 2025.
