Amitabh Bachchan Opens Up About His Academic Struggles and BSc Degree

Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan recently shared a candid and humorous account of his academic journey, particularly his struggles with his Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree. During an episode of the popular TV show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati 16,' Bachchan revealed that he graduated with a modest 42 percent in his BSc from Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi.

The Decision to Pursue BSc

Bachchan admitted that he opted for the BSc program without fully understanding what it entailed. He mentioned that he had performed well in science during his school days and had heard that there was a lot of scope in the field. However, he quickly realized his mistake during the first lecture itself. '10 saal main humne seekha tha science main scope hai woh 45 minutes main khatam kardiya,' he said, highlighting how his perception changed rapidly.

Academic Struggles and Failure

Bachchan candidly shared that he failed his exams in the first attempt. 'Pehli baar jab gaye toh fail hogaye Firse jaakar diya jawaab toh badhi mushkil se 42 percent aaya humara. Bach gaye,' he recounted, describing the challenging time he faced before eventually passing with a score of 42 percent.

Career and Success

Despite his academic struggles, Bachchan went on to achieve immense success in the film industry. He made his Bollywood debut as a voice narrator in the film 'Bhuvan Shome' in 1969 and later appeared in his first acting role in 'Saat Hindustani.' His career soared with iconic films like 'Anand,' 'Deewaar,' 'Sholay,' and many more. After a brief hiatus in the 1990s, he made a successful comeback with films such as 'Mohabbatein,' 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham,' and more recently, 'Piku' and 'Brahmstra: Part One Shiva.'

Currently, at the age of 81, Bachchan continues to captivate audiences with his versatile acting and his role as the host of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati 16.' His dedication and perseverance serve as an inspiration to many, showing that success is not solely defined by academic performance.
