Pradosh Vrat in September 2024: Dates, Rituals, and Significance
The month of September 2024 marks two significant observances of Pradosh Vrat, a sacred fasting ritual in the Hindu calendar
The Bowling Green State University football team is set to host the Old Dominion Monarchs on Saturday, September 28, at Doyt L. Perry Stadium, marking the university's Homecoming celebration. The Falcons, currently standing at 1-2, are favored in the matchup against the 0-3 Old Dominion team, with a spread of 10 points.
The Homecoming event promises to be an exciting day for fans, with several pre-game activities. Country music star Phil Vassar will perform a free 90-minute concert in the Falcon Tailgate Park starting at 2:30 p.m., following an opening act by Mike Williams on Sax at 1:45 p.m. The Falcon Tailgate Park will also feature eight food trucks and other festivities.
In addition to the concert, the Falcon Marching Band will perform a pre-game show at 4 p.m. in the tailgate park and then enter the stadium for further performances. The Homecoming Court will be announced at halftime, and the evening will conclude with postgame fireworks.
The Falcons have shown resilience in their recent games, including a close 34-27 loss to No. 8 Penn State and a 26-20 finish against No. 25 Texas A&M. Tight end Harold Fannin Jr. has been a standout player, earning the John Mackey Award Player of the Week and MAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for his performance against Texas A&M, where he had eight catches for 145 yards and a touchdown.
Malcolm Johnson Jr. has also been a key contributor, catching 8 of 12 targets for 81 yards and a touchdown in the game against Penn State. His performance has made him one of quarterback Connor Bazelak's top targets alongside Fannin.
The game against Old Dominion will kick off at 5 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Jason Ross and Tyoka Jackson providing the commentary. Fans can also listen to the game via the Falcon Radio Network and through the 'The Varsity Network' app from Learfield Sports.
Doyt Perry Stadium has transitioned to a cashless venue for the 2024 season, including parking, concessions, and tickets. Students can park for free in designated lots by showing their ID.
The event also includes community-focused initiatives, such as the 'Extra Yards for Teachers' program, where all teachers can receive a free ticket to the Homecoming game. Additionally, the 50/50 raffle is back, benefiting the Ziggy Collective and Bowling Green Youth Baseball.
