Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge Falls Ill During Rally in Jammu and Kashmir

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge experienced a health scare on Sunday while addressing a rally in the Jasrota area of Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district. Kharge, who is 83 years old, felt dizzy and uneasy during his speech, prompting his colleagues to assist him to a chair.

The incident occurred when Kharge was paying tribute to a head constable who was killed in an anti-terror operation in Kathua. Two other police personnel were injured, and one terrorist was killed in the same operation. Despite his health issues, Kharge resumed his speech after a brief pause.

Health Update and Reassurance

Kharge reassured the crowd about his health, saying, 'I am 83 years old, I am not going to die so early.' He also made a strong statement directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating, 'I will stay alive till PM Modi is removed from power.'

According to his son, Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge, the Congress president was checked by his medical team and was found to have slightly low blood pressure but was otherwise stable. Priyank Kharge shared the health update on social media, adding that his father's resolve and the good wishes of the people keep him going strong.

Scheduled Engagements

Kharge had traveled to Jasrota to address the rally in support of Congress candidates for the upcoming assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir. He is also scheduled to address another public rally in Ramnagar, Udhampur district. However, Jammu and Kashmir Congress vice president Ravindra Sharma mentioned that doctors would decide whether Kharge could attend the second rally after conducting a medical check-up.

Congress leader Thakur Balbir Singh noted that Kharge felt suffocated due to the extreme heat but still managed to complete his speech. He will take some rest before deciding on his next engagement.
