Delhi Hospital Horror: Doctor Shot Dead by Two Teenagers Under Pretext of Medical Treatment

In a shocking and tragic incident, a doctor was shot dead inside a hospital in Delhi's Jaitpur area, sparking widespread outrage and an immediate police investigation. The incident occurred at Nima Hospital, which falls under the Kalindi Kunj Police Station jurisdiction.

According to preliminary investigations by the Delhi Police, two teenagers, approximately 16-17 years old, entered the hospital around 1 am on Thursday. One of the boys had an injured toe, which had been treated and dressed by hospital staff the previous night. The boys returned to the hospital, claiming they needed a change of dressing for the injured toe.

After the dressing was completed, the teenagers requested a prescription and proceeded to the cabin of Dr. Javed Akhtar, a practitioner of Unani Medicine. Moments later, a gunshot was heard by the nursing staff, including Gajala Parveen and Mohammad Kamil. When Parveen entered Dr. Akhtars cabin, she found him slumped over his desk with a gunshot wound to the left side of his head.

Investigation and CCTV Footage

The police have launched a thorough investigation into the incident and are examining CCTV footage from the hospitals reception area, dressing room, and gallery to identify the assailants. The footage suggests that the attack was premeditated, as the boys had done a reconnaissance the previous night when they first visited the hospital for the dressing.

Rajesh Deo, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East), stated that the incident appears to be a case of targeted killing, given its unprovoked nature and the prior reconnaissance by the assailants.

The police are exploring multiple angles to determine the motive behind the murder and are working to apprehend the perpetrators. Forensic teams from the District Crime Unit and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Rohini, have been involved in collecting evidence from the crime scene.
