Bravo, known for his illustrious career in T20 cricket, made the announcement of his retirement on Thursday, September 26, citing the physical toll the sport had taken on his body. "My mind wants to keep going, but my body can no longer endure the pain, the breakdowns, and the strain," he wrote on Instagram.
This decision marks the end of an era for the 40-year-old, who has been one of the most successful players in the T20 format, with an impressive record of 631 wickets in 582 T20 matches, including T20 Internationals (T20Is) and franchise tournaments.
Joining Kolkata Knight Riders
KKR officially announced Bravo's appointment as a mentor on Friday, September 27, just a day after his retirement announcement. This move comes as Bravo transitions from his playing career to a coaching and mentoring role. "I've been part of the Trinbago Knight Riders for the last 10 years in the CPL. Having played for and against the Knight Riders in various leagues, I have a lot of respect for how they operate. This is the perfect platform for me as I transition from playing to mentoring and coaching the next generation of players," Bravo stated.
