Erin Andrews Criticizes Aaron Rodgers for Snubbing Charissa Thompson in Postgame Interview

Erin Andrews, a veteran sports journalist, has publicly criticized NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers for declining to participate in a postgame interview with her podcast cohost Charissa Thompson following the New York Jets' significant 24-3 victory over the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football.

After the game, Rodgers opted for a brief on-field interview with Amazon Prime sideline reporter Kaylee Hartung, but he did not join Thompson and the rest of the Thursday Night Football postgame team, which includes Tony Gonzalez, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Andrew Whitworth, and Richard Sherman. This decision was seen as a snub by Andrews, who expressed her disappointment on the 'Calm Down' podcast she co-hosts with Thompson.

Personal and Professional Expectations

Andrews emphasized that she and Thompson consider Rodgers a friend and therefore expected him to make time for the postgame interview. 'Id rather it have been up there on the desk,' Andrews said, highlighting her preference for Rodgers to have shared his thoughts with Thompson and the entire postgame crew. 'I was looking forward to two of my really good friends yukking it up. I didnt love it,' she added.

Andrews also noted that as a reporter, she expects athletes she considers friends to be available for interviews. She compared this situation to past experiences, such as with Tom Brady, saying, 'I get really sensitive when our peopleits not that they dont make the time Ive made jokes to Tom Brady about it, Remember the game that you threw for 400 yards and you ran right past me on postgame and I reapplied lip gloss, are you insane? Its just rude,' Andrews continued. 'Or now Aaron, when I talk to you, How dare you not go up on that desk with Charissa. It does get personal.'

Rodgers' Performance and Postgame Comments

During his brief interview with Hartung, Rodgers mentioned that he 'felt like his old self' during the game, a comment that Andrews wished had been shared on the postgame show for a more in-depth discussion. Rodgers told Hartung, 'I felt pretty good tonight. I was doing some things that I did as a younger man...sometimes, games like this, you need those little extra plays that I used to do a lot when I was a younger player, but its nice to have that element back.'

The absence of Rodgers from the postgame show meant that Thompson had to interview other players, including Garrett Wilson and Sauce Gardner, instead. Despite this, Nikki Glaser attempted to keep Rodgers as a focal point of the discussion.
