Fantasy Football Week 4: Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Guide

As we approach Week 4 of the NFL season, fantasy football managers are faced with critical lineup decisions. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you make informed choices on who to start and who to sit.

Quarterbacks

When it comes to quarterbacks, the matchup and team dynamics play a significant role. For instance, Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins is a risky play this week due to the team's uncertain quarterback situation. With Tua Tagovailoa out and Skylar Thompson injured, the Dolphins may start either Tim Boyle or Tyler Huntley against a tough Tennessee Titans defense, making Hill a less reliable option.

Running Backs

At the running back position, Aaron Jones of the Green Bay Packers is a must-start. Jones has been highly productive, receiving at least 15 opportunities (carries plus targets) in each game and getting goal-line work. He faces a Packers team that has allowed runs of 10-plus yards at the fourth-highest rate in the NFL, making him a prime candidate for a strong performance. On the other hand, Zamir White of the Las Vegas Raiders should be avoided. White has averaged less than five fantasy points per game and has not reached 50 scrimmage yards in any game, losing valuable opportunities to other backs.

In the Denver Broncos' backfield, Javonte Williams is not a trustworthy option due to the competition from Tyler Badie and Jaleel McLaughlin, as well as the increased use of quarterback Bo Nix's legs. This makes the Broncos' running back situation too unpredictable for fantasy lineups.

Wide Receivers

For wide receivers, DK Metcalf of the Seattle Seahawks is a must-start. Metcalf has consistently performed well, including another 100-yard performance and a touchdown in Week 3. He faces the Detroit Lions, who have allowed the most catches and yards to receivers this season. Jaxon Smith-Njigba is also worth considering, as he is expected to bounce back in a high-scoring game against the Lions.

Diontae Johnson of the Carolina Panthers had a strong Week 3 with Andy Dalton at quarterback, but he faces a tough matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals' stout pass defense. Johnson is also listed as questionable with a groin injury, making him a risky start.

Courtland Sutton of the Denver Broncos is coming off his best game of the year but faces a challenging matchup against the New York Jets' defense, particularly Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed. This could see his output return to lower levels.

Tight Ends

At the tight end position, Tyler Conklin of the New York Jets should be sat. Despite a strong performance in Week 3, Conklin faces the Denver Broncos, who have the No. 1 passing defense in the NFL and have allowed very few significant aerial plays.

Fantasy managers torn between and Zach Ertz should lean towards Kmet, especially given the uncertainty around the quarterback situation for both teams and the potential for more targets for Kmet.

Flex Positions

For flex positions, Deonte Johnson with Andy Dalton at quarterback is a solid choice, despite the tough matchup against the Bengals. His chemistry with Dalton makes him a reliable option. Jauan Johnson is another consideration, especially if you need a floor play, although he faces tougher coverage with Olave not playing.

Ultimately, the key to making the right start and sit decisions is to carefully consider the matchups, team dynamics, and recent performances. By doing so, you can field a strong lineup and maximize your fantasy points in Week 4.
