Former BJP MLA Neelam Karwariya Passes Away; Cremated With State Honours

Neelam Karwariya, a former BJP MLA from the Meja assembly constituency in Prayagraj, passed away on Thursday night in Hyderabad due to a serious liver-related illness. She was 55 years old.

Neelam Karwariya, the wife of two-time former BJP MLA Udaybhan Karwariya, had been admitted to KIMS Sunshine Hospital in Hyderabad for a liver transplant. However, her health deteriorated suddenly due to a drop in blood pressure, and despite being put on a ventilator, she could not be saved.

Condolences and Tributes

The news of her death was met with widespread condolences from political leaders and community members. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya expressed their deep sorrow over her passing. CM Yogi Adityanath prayed for her soul to be placed in the lotus feet of Lord Shri Ram and for strength to the bereaved family, while Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya described her as a soft-spoken and popular leader.

Senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi also expressed his condolences on her death. The Allahabad Cricket Association held a condolence meeting, observing two minutes of silence and offering prayers for the peace of her soul.

Last Rites and Family

Neelam Karwariya's body was brought to Babatpur airport in Varanasi by aircraft and then taken to her residence in the Kalyani Devi area. Her last rites were performed at Rasulabad Ghat on Saturday morning with state honours. The funeral procession was attended by a large number of people, including her family members and supporters.

Her husband, Udaybhan Karwariya, and their children, daughters Samriddhi and Sakshi, and son Saksham, were among those who bid her farewell. Notably, Udaybhan Karwariya's brothers, former BSP MP Kapilmuni Karwariya and former BSP MLC Surajbhan Karwariya, who are currently in Naini Jail, were granted 72 hours parole to attend the last rites.
