Helicopter Crash in Pune's Bavdhan Area Claims Three Lives

A tragic incident occurred in the Bavdhan area of Pune on Wednesday morning when a helicopter crashed, resulting in the deaths of three people on board. The helicopter, an Augusta 109 twin-engine chopper with a seating capacity of six, was operated by Delhi-based Heritage Aviation.

The helicopter took off from the Oxford Golf Club helipad around 7:00 AM and was en route to Juhu in Mumbai when it crashed approximately five minutes after takeoff. The crash site is located in a hilly area of Bavdhan, where low visibility conditions are suspected to have contributed to the accident.

Victims and Aircraft Details

The victims include two pilots and an engineer. The helicopter had previously flown NCP state president Sunil Tatkare to Beed on Tuesday and had returned to the Oxford Golf Club helipad for a night halt.

Emergency Response and Investigation

Emergency services, including four fire brigade vehicles from Pune and PMRDA along with an ambulance, were quickly dispatched to the site. Pune fire officials have confirmed the likelihood of casualties and are awaiting further confirmation.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will conduct a detailed investigation into the causes of the crash. This incident follows another helicopter accident in August in Punes Paud area, where four people were injured.
