Helicopter Crashes in Pune's Bavdhan Area, Three Onboard Killed

A tragic incident occurred in the Bavdhan area of Pune on Wednesday morning when a helicopter crashed, resulting in the deaths of three people onboard.

The helicopter, an Augusta 109 twin-engine chopper with a seating capacity of six, took off from the helipad of the Oxford Golf Resort in Pune around 7:00 AM. It was en route to Juhu in Mumbai when the crash occurred just five minutes after takeoff.

Victims and Circumstances

The victims included two pilots and an engineer. The identities of the pilots were confirmed as Captain P and Captain Paramjit. The engineer was also onboard, but their name has not been disclosed in the initial reports.

The crash is believed to have been caused by a combination of technical issues and adverse weather conditions, including low visibility in the hilly area of Bavdhan.

Response and Investigation

Local authorities, including the Hinjewadi police and fire brigade, responded promptly to the crash. Three fire tenders were deployed to control the fire that ensued from the crash.

Vinoykumar Choubey, Police Commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad, confirmed the deaths and stated that their teams were responding to the incident. An investigation into the cause of the crash has already been initiated by the relevant authorities.

The incident has raised concerns about aviation safety in the region and highlights the need for thorough investigations to determine the exact causes of such tragedies.
