A helicopter crash occurred in the Bavdhan area of Pune, Maharashtra, on Wednesday morning, resulting in the deaths of three people on board.
The helicopter, which took off from the helipad of the Oxford Golf Course resort in Pune, was headed to Juhu in Mumbai when the incident happened. The crash is believed to have occurred around 6:45 am in a hilly terrain near Bavdhan Budruk village.
The helicopter was carrying two pilots, identified as Paramjit Singh and G K Pillai, and an engineer named Pritam Bharadwaj. The aircraft, registered as VT EVV, belonged to Heritage Aviation and was based in Pune.
Local residents informed the Hinjewadi Police Control Room about the crash, and police along with medical teams and fire brigades were promptly dispatched to the scene. Four fire tenders from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) were involved in controlling the fire that engulfed the helicopter after the crash.
While the exact cause of the crash is yet to be determined, dense fog in the area is speculated to be a possible factor. The police and other authorities are currently investigating the incident.
This incident marks another recent helicopter crash in the Pune area, following an August incident where a private helicopter crashed near Paud village, though all occupants survived that crash.
