ICC Test Rankings: Jasprit Bumrah Reclaims Top Spot, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli Make Significant Gains

Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has reclaimed the number one spot in the ICC Test bowling rankings, surpassing his teammate Ravichandran Ashwin by a single point. Bumrah's impressive performance in the Kanpur Test against Bangladesh, where he took six wickets, has propelled him to the top with a rating of 870 points.

Ashwin, who was previously at the top, now sits in second place with 869 rating points. Australia's Josh Hazlewood occupies the third spot with 847 rating points, followed by Pat Cummins and Kagiso Rabada, both with 820 points.

Significant Gains for Indian Batters

In the batting department, Yashasvi Jaiswal has jumped two places to secure the third spot in the ICC Test batting rankings. His back-to-back fifties in the second Test against Bangladesh, scoring 72 and 51, have helped him achieve this new career-high rating.

Virat Kohli has also made a notable leap, moving six places to sixth in the Test batting rankings. Despite an ordinary series against Bangladesh, Kohli's scores of 47 and 29* in the second Test were enough to push him back into the top 10.

Other Notable Movements

Bangladesh's all-rounders, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan, have also seen improvements in their rankings. Miraz jumped four spots to 18th, while Shakib climbed five places to 28th after their performances in the Kanpur Test.

Sri Lanka's left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya has moved up one spot to joint-seventh in the bowling rankings after taking 18 wickets in the two-match series against New Zealand. Jayasuriya's performance earned him the Player of the Series award and a new career-best rating.

Impact on World Test Championship Standings

India's series sweep over Bangladesh has solidified their position at the top of the ICC World Test Championship standings. This strong performance puts India in a favorable position to qualify for a third consecutive final.

Ravindra Jadeja continues to lead the Test all-rounder rankings, while Mehidy Hasan has climbed two spots to fifth place in the same category.
