Kevin Bacon to Headline Washington West Film Festival with Music and Philanthropy

Actor and musician Kevin Bacon is set to make a significant impact at the 13th annual Washington West Film Festival, scheduled to take place from October 10 to 13 in Reston and Tysons, Fairfax County. Known for his iconic roles in films like Footloose and The Sixth Sense , Bacon will participate in the festival both in-person and virtually, bringing a unique blend of music, film, and philanthropy to the event.

The Bacon Brothers Concert

One of the highlights of the festival will be a live concert by The Bacon Brothers, a band consisting of Kevin Bacon and his brother Michael Bacon. The concert is scheduled for Saturday, October 12, at 7:30 p.m. at the Reston Town Center Pavilion. The band, which has been active since 1995, is known for its eclectic mix of folk, rock, soul, and country music, having released 12 studio albums and toured extensively across North America and Europe.

Film Festival Lineup

The Washington West Film Festival will feature a diverse lineup of films, including new documentaries such as Searching for Amani and Champions of the Golden Valley , as well as a showcase of short films by George Mason University students. Classic movies like The Sixth Sense and Footloose will also be screened. Philanthropic Efforts

On October 13, volunteers will gather to pack 'BK x KB' (Building kits by Kevin Bacon) which include essential items like toys, books, and hygiene products for local families in need. All proceeds from the festival will be donated to Virginias Kids Belong to help at-risk families and foster children.

Furthermore, the festival will feature a special event on October 21 at the Reston Community Centers CenterStage, showcasing three short films about the writer and activist James Baldwin, followed by a post-screening discussion led by GMU professor Dr. Keith Clark.
