Kodiyeri Balakrishnan Honored with Memorials at Home and in Kannur

The late CPI(M) leader and former minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan is being remembered and honored through various memorials in his hometown. His family has taken a significant step in preserving his legacy by setting up a memorial at his residence.

Memorial at Home

At his home in Kodiyeri, Kannur, a bronze half-statue of Balakrishnan has been installed as a permanent memorial. This initiative is led by his family, who aim to keep his memories alive. The memorial includes various items that Balakrishnan used, which are now displayed in a hall on the upper floor of his house. These items range from his personal belongings to significant documents and mementos from his life and career.

Memorial at Payyambalam

In addition to the home memorial, a memorial has also been established at Payyambalam in Kannur. This memorial, known as the Kodiyeri Smriti Mandapam, is located on the beach and was inaugurated by M.V. Govindan Master. The site is chosen for its significance, as it is a place where Balakrishnan's memories are deeply rooted.
