Minnesota Vikings and iHeartMedia Extend Radio Partnership Through 2031

The Minnesota Vikings and iHeartMedia Minneapolis have announced a significant seven-year contract extension, ensuring that Vikings games will continue to be broadcast on 100.3 KFAN and 1130 KTLK through the 2031 season. This extension marks the continuation of a long-standing partnership that began in 2001, making the 2025 season the 25th anniversary of KFAN as the Vikings' flagship radio station.

Under this new agreement, KFAN will remain the primary radio home for all Vikings preseason, regular season, and postseason games. The partnership also includes extensive game coverage and events across all iHeartMedia Minneapolis brands and platforms, as well as co-produced Vikings-related football programming on KFXN-FM.

Enhanced Fan Experience and Technological Advancements

The extension is hailed as a milestone in enhancing the fan experience. According to Martin Nance, Vikings EVP/Chief Marketing Officer, the partnership will leverage iHeartMedia's cutting-edge radio and podcast networks to reach a wider audience. This collaboration will utilize advanced technology to deliver high-quality, engaging programming that fans have come to expect and love.

John Penhollow, Vikings EVP/Chief Revenue Officer, emphasized that the extension is a key part of their growth strategy. It will create new avenues for advertisers and sponsors to connect with highly engaged listeners, innovating ways to enhance the listener experience.

Historical Significance and Community Impact

The partnership between the Vikings and KFAN has been synonymous with Minnesota sports for over two decades. Greg Alexander, iHeartMedia Minneapolis Market President, expressed delight in continuing this long-term partnership, highlighting the fantastic relationship and the opportunities to create outstanding experiences for listeners.

Paul Allen, who has been the radio voice of the Vikings since 2002, remains a central figure in this partnership. His emotional calls during intense Vikings games have gained national popularity, and his presence on KFAN has been a staple of the station's success.

By the time this new agreement expires in 2031, the Vikings and KFAN will have been radio partners for an impressive 31 years, marking a unique and enduring relationship in the NFL.
