Veteran Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty is set to be honoured with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, recognizing his outstanding contributions to Indian cinema. This announcement was made by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw via the social media platform X.

Mithun Chakraborty, known for his versatile performances and enduring popularity, has captivated audiences for decades. His remarkable cinematic journey, which began with the 1976 film Mrigayaa directed by Mrinal Sen, has inspired generations. For his debut role in Mrigayaa , he won the National Film Award for Best Actor.

Awards and Achievements

Mithun Chakraborty has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including three National Film Awards for his roles in Tahader Katha (1992) and Swami Vivekananda (1998), in addition to his award for Mrigayaa . Earlier this year, he was also honoured with the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian honour.

The actor is also renowned for his roles in films such as Disco Dancer (1982), Agneepath (1990), Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki , and Commando . His recent appearance in The Kashmir Files , directed by Vivek Agnihotri, further underscores his continued impact on Indian cinema.
