Nagarjuna Files Defamation Case Against Telangana Minister Konda Surekha Over Comments on Naga Chaitanya and Samantha's Divorce

In a significant development, Telugu film industry superstar Akkineni Nagarjuna has filed a criminal defamation case against Telangana Minister Konda Surekha following her controversial statements linking Bharatiya Rashtra Samiti (BRS) leader KT Rama Rao (KTR) to the divorce of his son, Naga Chaitanya, and actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu.

The controversy began when Minister Konda Surekha alleged that KTR had interfered in the personal lives of several actresses, including forcing them to leave the film industry, get married early, or be blackmailed due to his influence. She specifically claimed that KTR was responsible for the divorce of Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, stating that her refusal to visit the N-Convention Centre, owned by Nagarjuna, at KTR's request led to the strained situation and eventual separation.

Nagarjuna strongly condemned these remarks, filing a defamation case against Surekha in the Nampally court under section 356 of the law. He emphasized that the accusations were entirely false and baseless, and that the personal matters of movie stars should not be used as leverage for political gains.

Both Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu have also responded to the allegations, stating that their divorce was a mutual decision made after much consideration and due to differences in their personal goals and aspirations. They have denied any external influence, including from KTR, in their decision to part ways.

The Telugu film industry has united in condemning Surekha's remarks, with prominent figures such as Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu, Allu Arjun, Jr NTR, and Nani expressing their support for the Akkineni family. They have criticized the use of personal family matters for political purposes and called for the issue to be resolved with dignity and respect for everyone involved.

Konda Surekha, despite the widespread backlash, initially refused to apologize for her comments but later withdrew her statement. However, the damage had already been done, prompting Nagarjuna to take legal action to protect his family's reputation.

The incident highlights the growing trend of celebrities taking a stand against defamatory statements and misinformation spread in the media, particularly when it involves sensitive personal matters. This case also underscores the importance of respecting the privacy and personal lives of public figures, as emphasized by the film industry's collective response.
