Pawan Kalyan's Three-Day Visit to Tirumala Amid Laddu Controversy

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has embarked on a significant three-day visit to Tirupati, beginning on October 1, 2024, as part of his Prayaschitha Deeksha (penance) related to the ongoing controversy surrounding the Tirupati Laddu prasadam.

The visit comes in the wake of allegations that animal fats were used in the preparation of the prasadam, a claim that has sparked a huge debate in Andhra Pradesh. Pawan Kalyan started his journey by walking the Alipiri Srivari pathway to reach Tirumala, where he will spend the night and offer prayers to Lord Venkateswara the following morning.

Declaration and Family Involvement

During his visit, Pawan Kalyan was accompanied by his family, including his daughters Aadhya and Polena Anjani. In accordance with traditional practices, Polena Anjani, who has Christian maternal roots, signed a declaration of faith before proceeding to the darshan of Lord Venkateswara. Pawan Kalyan also signed the declaration documents as her guardian, given her minor status.

This gesture by Pawan Kalyan is seen as a strong message to the public, emphasizing his commitment to adhering to the traditional practices of Tirumala. The family's visit includes an inspection of the Matru Sri Tarigonda Vengamamba Anna Prasada Kendra and participation in a public meeting in Tirupati.

Controversy Over Laddu Adulteration

The controversy surrounding the Tirupati Laddu prasadam intensified after Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu alleged that animal fats, including beef tallow, lard, and fish oil, were used in the preparation of the laddoos during the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) regime. A lab report from the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) supported these claims, leading to widespread outrage.

Pawan Kalyan has emphasized that the issue extends beyond just the prasad controversy, highlighting the need to protect Sanatana Dharma (Hinduism) and address various desecrations of temples that have occurred over the past few years. The Supreme Court has questioned the timing of the Chief Minister's public allegations, suggesting that an investigation should be conducted without influencing public sentiment.

Penance and Commitment

Pawan Kalyan's Prayaschitha Deeksha is a commitment to take forward the protection of Sanatana Dharma. He has underscored the importance of this penance, stating that it is essential to address the desecrations and violations that have occurred in various temples, including the alleged adulteration of the Tirupati Laddu prasadam.
