Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa's Son Sparks Controversy Over VVIP Escort

Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa has found himself at the center of a controversy after a video featuring his son, Ashu Bairwa, went viral on social media. The video shows Ashu, who is still a minor and in senior secondary school, driving an SUV with his friends, escorted by two police vehicles.

The incident has raised significant concerns over the potential misuse of VVIP privileges and violations of traffic regulations. The video, which also includes Kartikeya Bhardwaj, the son of Congress leader Pushpendra Bhardwaj, was shared on Instagram with a caption that translated to 'Whether it's politics or the streets, we always make our move'.

Clarification and Defense

Prem Chand Bairwa issued a clarification in response to the backlash, stating that his son was merely enjoying a ride with his school friends. He emphasized that the police vehicle was following the car for his child's safety and not serving as an escort. Bairwa expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his role as Deputy Chief Minister, noting that his son's exposure to luxury cars was a result of his position.

Bairwa defended his son, saying, 'My son studies in senior secondary and those with him in the viral video are his school friends. I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for entrusting me with the role of Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan. It was only because of my position that wealthy people offered my son a ride in their car, and out of curiosity, he accepted. He is a kid and not even 18-years-old at the moment,'.

Public Backlash and Apology

Despite the initial defense, the public backlash led Bairwa to extend an apology. He acknowledged that his son had a valid driving license and expressed his intention to avoid causing any issues for his party or himself due to this incident. Bairwa stated, 'I don't want any problem to arise in my party (BJP) or anywhere else because of me. That is why I apologise for the fact that my son went with those children. He will not do such a thing, and I have explained it to him'.

The controversy highlights the ongoing debate about the misuse of state resources and VVIP privileges, a topic that is not new in Indian politics. Such incidents often raise questions about the accountability and transparency of public officials and their families, especially in contexts where government services are involved.

The incident has also sparked political reactions, with various leaders weighing in on the issue. However, it remains to be seen how this will impact Bairwa's tenure as Deputy Chief Minister, especially in light of other political developments in Rajasthan.
