The Samalkha Assembly Constituency in Haryana has seen a significant shift in political dynamics with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Manmohan Bhadana emerging victorious in the 2024 assembly elections. Bhadana secured a margin of 19315 votes over his closest contender, Dharam Singh Chhoker of the Indian National Congress (INC).

1. Election Overview

The Samalkha Assembly Constituency is one of the 90 constituencies in Haryana and falls under the Karnal Lok Sabha constituency. In the 2019 assembly elections, Dharam Singh Chhoker of the INC won the seat by defeating Shashi Kant Kaushik of the BJP with a margin of 14942 votes.

This year's election saw a strong campaign by both parties, with the BJP launching an RSS-backed campaign to regain support in rural areas. The BJP's intensive poll campaign, spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, managed to consolidate most non-Jaat, non-Muslims, and Other Backward Class vote share in the northern state.

2. Key Candidates

Manmohan Bhadana, the BJP candidate, has been a prominent figure in local politics. His victory marks a significant win for the BJP in this constituency. On the other hand, Dharam Singh Chhoker, the INC candidate, has been a long-standing leader in Samalkha and had previously won the seat in 2019.

The election results reflect a broader trend in Haryana where the BJP is set to form the government for the third time. The party is leading in 50 seats as compared to 35 seats for the INC, defying various exit poll predictions.
