Stephen Amell's Close Call with 'NCIS: Origins' and His Journey to 'Suits: L.A.'

In a recent revelation, actor Stephen Amell shared his experience of auditioning for the role of young Leroy Jethro Gibbs in the CBS spinoff series NCIS: Origins, just days before he auditioned for the NBC series Suits: L.A.

Amell, known for his roles in Arrow and Heels, opened up about his audition process during an appearance on the Inside of You With Michael Rosenbaum podcast. He mentioned that his primary focus during that week was on the NCIS: Origins audition, which he described as an exciting opportunity given the rarity of network shows in pilot season.

Despite receiving great feedback and positive intel that the role might move forward, Amell found out that the part ultimately went to Austin Stowell. This news came as a significant disappointment, especially after he had felt confident about his performance.

From Disappointment to Success

The rejection from NCIS: Origins led to a emotional breakdown for Amell, who was also dealing with the challenges of solo parenting his two children that week. However, he channeled this frustration into his audition for Suits: L.A. the next day.

Amell recalled walking into the Suits: L.A. audition with no fear and a determination to stand out. He decided to be more spontaneous and have fun with the role, which contrasted with what he expected from other auditionees. This approach clearly worked, as he was later announced as the lead in Suits: L.A., playing the character Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York.

In Suits: L.A., Amell's character is described as a charismatic force of nature who represents the most powerful clients in Los Angeles. The series, created by Aaron Korsh, is set at a law firm specializing in criminal and entertainment law and also features actors like Josh McDermitt, Lex Scott Davis, Troy Winbush, and Alice Lee.

Reflection and New Beginnings

Reflecting on his journey, Amell noted that everything does work out for a reason . He expressed gratitude for landing the role in Suits: L.A., which he believes was the job he was meant to get.

While NCIS: Origins did not work out for Amell, the series is still anticipated to explore the prequel story of Leroy Jethro Gibbs, now played by Austin Stowell. This development has generated excitement among fans of the NCIS franchise.
