Storm Damage Affects RDOS Parks and Local Infrastructure

Storm Damage Affects RDOS Parks and Local Infrastructure

Recent storms in the Okanagan-Similkameen region have caused significant disruptions, particularly affecting local parks and infrastructure. Reflection Point Park and portions of Osoyoos Lake Park are temporarily closed due to the damage inflicted by the storms.

Park Closures

The closures are a result of the extensive storm damage, which has rendered these areas unsafe for public use. The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) is working to assess and repair the damage as quickly as possible.

Impact on Local Residents

In addition to the park closures, the storms have also left over 1,500 FortisBC customers in the South Okanagan without power. The power outages are another significant consequence of the severe weather conditions, highlighting the broader impact on local residents and infrastructure.

Ongoing Efforts

The RDOS is actively engaged in various initiatives to address the aftermath of the storms. This includes ongoing assessments and repairs to ensure the safety and functionality of public spaces and services. The community is encouraged to stay informed through official updates and to report any further damage or concerns.
