In a recent viral video, Swiggy CEO Rohit Kapoor has sparked a significant conversation by advocating for a better work-life balance and criticizing the prevalent hustle culture. Kapoor's remarks come at a time when the nation is intensely debating the merits and drawbacks of working long hours and the impact it has on health and personal relationships.
Kapoor strongly disapproved of the hustle culture, which glorifies working late into the night and neglecting personal life. He pointed out that those who claim to work until 3 AM often fail to mention that they arrive at the office as late as 1 PM. 'But wo jo 3 baje raat ko baithte hai na wo ye nahi batate ki wo 1 baje dopahar ko office ate hai,' Kapoor said, highlighting the inconsistency and unhealthiness of such a routine.
The Swiggy CEO shared his personal experience from his previous role at OYO, where he would arrive at the office at 8 AM, only to find that many of his colleagues would start their day much later and then work until late at night. Kapoor emphasized that this culture is not only unproductive but also detrimental to one's health and relationships.
Kapoor urged people to prioritize quality time with their family and loved ones. He advised against making late-night work sessions a routine, suggesting that such habits can lead to burnout, anxiety, and deteriorating physical and mental health. 'Go home, spend time with your family, girlfriend, dog... What will you achieve by working till late?' he asked, emphasizing the need for a balanced life.
While acknowledging the importance of hard work, Kapoor clarified that it should not come at the cost of one's personal life. 'Hard work is needed, I think we all work damn hard. I have worked damn hard all my life. But it has not come at the cost of me going crazy,' he said, advocating for a more balanced approach to work and life.
Kapoor's video has garnered significant attention on social media, with many viewers resonating with his remarks. The video has amassed over 1.2 million views and 80,400 likes, with users praising his practical and realistic approach to work-life balance. Comments such as 'Finally someone talked like normal to all of us' and 'Someone whos actually practical about life' reflect the positive reception of his message.
