Tamil Nadu Weather Alert: Heavy Rain Forecast for Multiple Districts

Heavy Rain Predictions for 19 Districts

Tamil Nadu is bracing itself for heavy rainfall, with the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) issuing warnings for several districts across the state. According to the latest forecasts, 19 districts are expected to experience heavy rain, prompting the RMC to issue a yellow alert.

Affected Districts

The districts under the heavy rain alert include Ranipettai, Vellore, Tirupattur, Tiruvannamalai, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, and several others. Chennai, which is often at the center of such weather alerts, is also among the districts that could see significant rainfall.

In addition to these, other districts such as Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Sivaganga, Tenkasi, Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, and Thoothukudi are also predicted to experience heavy rain at isolated places.

Weekend Rainfall Forecast

For the upcoming weekend, the RMC has forecast heavy rainfall in 14 districts, including Coimbatore (particularly the Ghat areas), Nilgiris, Theni, Dindigul, Tiruppur, and Madurai. This indicates a continued risk of heavy showers across various parts of the state.

Isolated Heavy Rainfall

The India Meteorological Department has highlighted that heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over several districts. This includes areas such as Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, and Tiruvannamalai, among others. The department has categorized these predictions under the 'heavy rain' category, which signifies a significant amount of rainfall in specific areas.

Excess Rainfall Recorded

Tamil Nadu has already received 19 percent excess rainfall, and the current forecasts suggest that this trend may continue. Residents are advised to be prepared for mild to heavy showers over the next few days, especially in the Ghat areas of Coimbatore, Vellore, and Tirupattur.

Public Advisory

Given the heavy rain predictions, the public is advised to take necessary precautions. The yellow alert issued by the RMC indicates that people should be prepared for potential disruptions due to the weather. This includes avoiding travel unless necessary and being cautious of flooding and other weather-related hazards.

As the state prepares for another rainy weekend, staying informed through official weather updates will be crucial for public safety.
