The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 2: Devara Cast Brings Mixed Flavors to the Second Episode

The second episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 2 featured an exciting lineup with the cast of the upcoming pan-India action thriller, Devara, including Jr NTR, Saif Ali Khan, and Janhvi Kapoor. The episode, which premiered on Netflix, had its share of highs and lows as it attempted to blend the North and South Indian cinematic worlds.

Grand Entries and Candid Moments

The episode kicked off with grand entries by Saif Ali Khan and Jr NTR, accompanied by background dancers. Janhvi Kapoor joined them on stage, where they shared anecdotes and mutual admiration. Janhvi Kapoor's stories about her father Boney Kapoor adapting to South Indian culture and her mother Sridevi's spirited demeanor added a refreshing touch to the show.

Saif Ali Khan also hinted at his son Ibrahim Ali Khan's potential Bollywood debut, adding an intriguing element to the conversation. Jr NTR, known for his lively persona, uplifted the episode with his genuine laughter and engaging interactions.

Comedic Highlights and Lowlights

While Kapil Sharma's observational humour about the differences between North and South India was a highlight, many of his one-liners fell flat. Jr NTR and Saif Ali Khan briefly hijacked the show, roasting Kapil Sharma before he took back the reins. A notable moment was when Kapil Sharma taught Jr NTR a Punjabi pickup line to deliver to Archana Puran Singh, which garnered significant laughter from the audience.

The episode also featured a guessing game segment with Janhvi Kapoor, which unfortunately did not live up to expectations. However, the dumb charades segment with Saif and Jr NTR showcased their playful sides and managed to charm the audience.

One of the low points was a poorly written gig by Rajiv Thakur, which failed to impress and felt out of place. Despite these moments, the show was salvaged by the comedic acts of Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, and Kiku Sharda.

Mimicry Acts Steal the Show

The highlight of the episode was undoubtedly the mimicry act by Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, and Kiku Sharda. They transformed into SS Rajamouli, Sivagami, and Katappa, respectively, in a hilarious Baahubali -themed parody. Their act left both the guests and the audience in splits, adding much-needed humour to the episode.

Sunil Grover's impression of filmmaker SS Rajamouli was particularly praised, as he skillfully took the Bollywood stars out of their comfort zones and had them rolling with laughter.

Promoting Devara

The episode was part of the promotional campaign for Devara: Part 1, directed by Koratala Siva. The film, which released on September 27, marks Janhvi Kapoor's debut in Telugu cinema and features Jr NTR in dual roles, along with Saif Ali Khan and a stellar supporting cast.

Despite some segments falling flat, the genuine interactions and moments of laughter managed to make the episode worth watching. The blend of North and South Indian cultures, though not seamless, added a unique flavor to the show.
