Uddhav Thackeray Admitted to Reliance Hospital for Heart Check-Up

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has been admitted to Reliance Hospital in Mumbai for a detailed medical evaluation. The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader, who has a history of cardiovascular issues, is currently undergoing tests to identify potential blockages in his heart arteries. This move comes as part of his regular health check-ups, which have been ongoing due to his previous angioplasty procedures.

According to reports, Thackeray was admitted to the hospital early on Monday morning after feeling unwell. His son, Aaditya Thackeray, took to social media to assure the public that the hospitalization was a pre-planned check-up and that Uddhav is well and ready to serve the people. This statement was made on the platform X (formerly Twitter), where Aaditya confirmed that it was a pre-planned detailed check-up at the Sir HN Reliance Hospital.

Uddhav Thackeray has a significant history with cardiovascular health issues. In 2012, he underwent his first angioplasty procedure, where doctors inserted eight stents to address multiple blockages in three major heart arteries. This was followed by a second angioplasty in November 2012 to remove a 60% blockage in the left anterior descending artery (LAD). Additionally, in May 2016, Thackeray underwent an angiography process at Lilavati Hospital as a follow-up to his earlier angioplasty procedures.

The recent hospitalization is part of Thackeray's ongoing efforts to manage his cardiovascular health. His health has been a serious concern for several years, particularly with regards to potential arterial blockages. The tests currently underway are aimed at identifying any new blockages and ensuring that his heart health remains stable.

Uddhav Thackeray's political career has been marked by significant events, including his tenure as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra until his resignation on June 29, 2022. His ouster was a result of a political drama involving rebel Shiv Sena MLAs led by Eknath Shinde. Shinde's rebellion against Uddhav Thackeray was fueled by his loyalty to Hindutva and the founder of Shiv Sena, Balasaheb Thackeray.

Since his departure from the Chief Minister's post, Uddhav Thackeray has been actively involved in rebuilding his political base. He has been vocal about his plans to return to power and has been critical of his former allies, particularly the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In a recent address at the UBT's annual Dussehra rally, Thackeray targeted his former allies ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra.

The upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra are expected to be highly contested, with several political parties vying for power. The current term of the Maharashtra Assembly ends in November, which would necessitate an election announcement anytime by the poll body. Uddhav Thackeray's return to power remains a significant possibility if his party manages to win the elections.

The political landscape in Maharashtra has been dynamic since Uddhav Thackeray's ouster. The Shinde-led government, formed in an alliance with the BJP, has been in power since then. However, similar to the Shinde rebellion that fractured the Shiv Sena, a similar situation unfolded in Sharad Pawars Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). The rebellion led by Pawars nephew, Ajit Pawar, resulted in a split of the party in July 2023.

Following the split, Ajit Pawars faction of the NCP joined the Shinde-led Mahayuti alliance. Ajit was appointed as Shindes deputy alongside former CM Devendra Fadnavis. This development highlights the complex political dynamics at play in Maharashtra as various factions vie for power.

In conclusion, Uddhav Thackeray's recent hospitalization serves as a reminder of his ongoing health challenges. Despite these challenges, he remains committed to his political ambitions and continues to play an active role in shaping the political landscape of Maharashtra.
